Austrian Airlines to discontinue direct flights to Sri Lanka

Austria's national carrier, Austrian Airlines has announced the airline will discontinue the direct flights between Vienna and Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport from the end of October 2018 due to the airline's restructuring network programme.

The airline was serving once a week to the Sri Lankan capital during the Winter season for transporting the European tourists to the pearl of Indian Ocean.

Austrian Airlines was resuming the direct flights to Colombo in October 2015 after an absence in popular Austria - Sri Lanka Route for 10 years. But the airline has announced it will discontinue some of it's routes to expand the frequencies to profitable destinations e.g. New York, Chicago, and Beijing.
